This week we will be focusing on RSHE for our home learning. 

 

I would like all children to try something new. This is linked with The Learning Line they have been learning about within their RSHE lessons with Miss Keefe. Your something new may include one of the following:

  • tie shoelaces
  • helping with the cooking
  • throwing and catching with their less dominant hand

 

Once the children have tried something new, I would like them to write what their something new was and how it went.

What does PANTS stand for? Why is it important to remember?

In RSHE on Friday, we will be talking about touch the children like and do not like. The focus of this will be to recognise that some touches are not fun and can hurt or be upsetting; Know that they can ask someone to stop touching them; To identify who they can talk to if someone touches them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable. The children will be reminded of the NSPCC Underwear Rule learnt last year. We will look at facial expressions and body language to explore signals to check if people are feeling ok.

We have been looking at habitats and biomes in Science this term. Home learning this week is for the children to create one of the biomes we have been learning about. These can be made using shoe boxes, small cardboard boxes or cereal boxes to create one of the six biomes we have been looking at.

Year 2 Be Aware and Take Care

Dear Parents and Carers,  

Your child has recently had a visit from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service. They have learnt about the role of firefighters, how they keep us safe and what the children can do to help stay safe. Please compete this quiz, looking through the information with your child so they can share with you what they have leant. In the summer, one entry will be picked to win a VIP trip to a fire station for the winning child and their school will win a £50 book token.

We have reached the final week of this half term. The hedgehogs have worked super hard and brought in some fantatsic home learning. There is no subject focus for over half term but if you can practise spellings (see spelling block for guidance) and keep up with reading too. For maths it would be great to focus on doubles, bonds within 10 and within 100 (1minute maths app is great for this). Please look in your child's book bags for any extra learning that will support them as they go into the next half term.

Harvest Festival

Hello Hedgehogs, I hope you have had the most wonderful summer. It has been lovely to see so many happy faces return to school. I look forward to getting to know you more this half term.

Key information: 

 

PE days - these will be on a Monday and a Friday.  Please make sure you are in full PE kit for these days.  

Library day - this will be on a Tuesday when we have chosen our first library books, please make sure they are in every Tuuesday to make sure we can swap them. This will help in achieving those reading challenges! 

Reading raffle - Reading diaries will be checked and signed on a Thursday. If you have read 3 times you will be entered into the reading raffle during our Friday, 'Value Star' worship.
