Home Learning 05/07/22

2. Choose one of the significant people to find out more about. Why are they significant?

 

3. For this task you could use a combination of your history knowledge and computing. Create a presentation about what you have learned about the Anglo-Saxons. In computing we have learned how to create a google presentation. You could alternatively use power-point or create an engaging poster. You will get to share your presentation with the rest of the class, if you want to! (Google/power-point presentations may be emailed to the school office.

Home Learning 21/06/22

  We will be focusing on French for our home learning. Use the knowledge you have learned in French so far this learning block and the knowledge organiser to help you.

1. Revisit the ten verbs we have now learnt in our French lesson. (See the attached document)

 

2. Write sentences in French... e.g. Je peux manger.

Sort them into sentences, those that you like and those that you don't like. 

 

3. Choose five verbs to say with an appropriate action, write and illustrate.

Home Learning 14/06/22

  We will be focusing on Design Technology for our home learning. Use the knowledge you have learned in Design Technology so far this learning block and the knowledge organiser to help you.

 

The three tasks for this week are:


1. Find the meaning of these key words...

applique

cross stitch

running stitch

cushion

stencil

stuffing

 

2. Find examples of applique. List where you have found examples of applique. Draw an illustration or take photographs of where you have found examples. Write sentences explaining which examples you like and why. 

 

3. Look at different examples of cushions. What are they made from? What is the purpose of the cushion? How has the cushion been decorated? Draw examples or take photographs of examples that you like. Explain what you like about them.

We will be designing and making our own cushions this learning block. It would be really helpful to practice threading a needle, putting a knot about 2cm from the end of the thread and practicing running and cross stich.

Home learning 7/6/22

 As this week is quiz week, spend time revisiting the knowledge organisers from learning block E. We will begin learning block F next week. 

 

 Please ensure any reading is recorded into your child's planner. I will be checking all planners each week to make sure this is being done and moving children onto the next reading level when I can see regular reading is being completed at home. 

 

 From our maths quiz, it was clear that children still need some practice of finding fractions of amounts (unit fractions and non-unit fractions). E.g. 1/3 of 15, 1/5 of 25, 2/6 of 18. Please spend time practicing these at home.

This week we will be focusing on English for our home learning. Use the knowledge you have learned in English about instructions from year two and this week.

 

The three tasks for this week are:

 

1. Find different examples of instruction texts and identify some of the structural features. (See attached document.)

 

2. Choose a set of instructions to follow. 

Were they clear? Could they be improved? How? 

You could take photographs of the finished product. 

 

3. Have a go at writing a set of instructions. The instructions could be for any purpose.

2. Suggest ways in which Hindus demonstrate good Karma. 

 

3. In some of our lessons we played snakes and ladders. Play the game at home, explaining how it teaches Hindu children about good and bad karma. You could also design your own game to teach children about karma.

2. Find out/ recall what opaque and transparent are and find examples of both around your home and local area. 

 

3. Carry out a simple investigation to find out which objects create the best shadows. Report your findings using writing and or pictures.

Badgers have had a busy half term of learning. See a snap shot of some of the fantastic learning we have completed in this first block in the photographs below.

Yesterday the children came home with their individual spelling books. The spellings written in them are personal to each child and are taken from their English books. Please practice and learn the spellings in them. Use the right hand column to show that your child has learnt them by writing the word in it. I will check spelling books on Thursday during our spelling lesson. Please make sure spelling books are in your child's book bag each day.

This week we will be focusing on French for our home learning.  Open our French Knowledge Organiser and use the knowledge you have learned in French so far during Learning Block A.

Practice saying colours in French.

 

Design and make a poster to help us remember the different colours in French.

This week we will be focusing on Computing for our home learning.  Open our computing Knowledge Organiser and use the knowledge you have learned in computing so far during Learning Block A.

 

The tasks for this week are:

 

Log onto Purple Mash and complete the 2Dos. (Click on the bell)

You will have two or three challenges to complete depending on how you got on with the first challenge in the lesson. The challenges to complete are 'Magician' (covered during last lesson.) 'Night and Day' and 'Tic toc clock challenge'. Completing these challenges will help you to code using 'timers'. 

 

If you feel you would like an extra challenge... 

Open the attached document below 'When lightening strikes' and create a flow chart to explain what will happen.
