How can parents support the school?

There are many ways to get involved in the life of the school community, and several ways in which you can find support as a parent.

Get involved!

Resources

We are always grateful to be offered first refusal on any resources that you or your company no longer have use for! We love to benefit from off cuts of paper, card, fabric, wood etc. We can also use yoghurt pots, cereal packets, cardboard inner tubes from kitchen roll etc.

Helping in school

We welcome many volunteers into school each week and are always grateful for extra pairs of hands. Teachers will talk to you about this in the class meeting at the beginning of each academic year, and will start to use volunteers once the children have had enough time to settle into their new class and have got to know their routines.

We would like to use your talents and interests as much as possible e.g. gardening, reading, craft work etc. There will also be jobs that can be done at home from time to time. Let us know if you are a seamstress, carpenter, pencil sharpener, token counter etc! Volunteers helping in school will only be DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service - previously known as CRB) checked by Trinity if they come into school on a regular weekly basis.

Collecting vouchers and tokens

Many companies and retailers now offer collection campaigns designed to support schools, such as Tesco’s Computers for schools, Sainsbury’s Active Kids, Morrisons’ Let’s Grow and Nestle’s Box tops for books. Children really do benefit directly from all of these, so look out for details in the Newsletters and ask friends and family to help.

Parent library

There is a range of books in the foyer by the office, which can be borrowed by parents using the sign-out book. Topics include being a working parent, explaining death to children, managing toddlers, maintaining a healthy marriage and ‘detoxing’ childhood. Do come in and browse!

Books to purchase

We regularly have a selection of books and gifts for sale in the foyer. The school receives 10% of the final order amount, so please come and shop here. Signs are displayed on the windows when there are books to look at. Occasionally we will send home other catalogues such as Scholastic Books, Chocoholics or Yellow Moon which benefit the school in the same way.
