Communication

 

At Trinity we believe that excellent communication between home and school is vital to accelerate learning and to maintain welfare, allowing children to thrive. There are various important means by which we can communicate with one another:

 

Newsletters

 

We publish newsletters every week on Thursdays and they contain important dates and information. These and other letters are sent out via email. Please let the office know if you are unable to receive emails and need a paper copy.  Do return the feedback form from the newsletter if you have comments or suggestions.

 

Link book

 

On starting school, every child is given a purple link book. This is to be a link between home and school, as well as a reading record book. Teachers may write messages to you about minor accidents, things to practise at home, requests for things to bring in, etc. Parents may write messages for the class teacher regarding achievements at home, lost property, late homework etc.  This book is also used for both teachers and parents to record the date, title and a comment when listening to your child read. Please make sure it comes to school in the book bag every day.

 

Class meeting

 

At the beginning of each new academic year, there will be an opportunity for you to meet the class teacher and for him/her to explain the set-up of their year-group and its curriculum.

 

Topic letter

 

At the start of each new topic, teachers write a topic letter outlining what they will be covering during the next blocks of work, so that you know what your child is up to and can ask them about it at home.

 

Email

 

The majority of correspondence is sent to you by email. This may be for the whole school, individual classes, specific groups of children or individually.

 

Parent workshops

 

From time to time, we offer parent workshops during the day or evening which are designed to help you understand how we teach children the fundamental skills of literacy and numeracy.

 

Open-door policy

 

There are opportunities to meet with your child’s teacher throughout the school year, but if you have significant concerns in the meantime, please do make an appointment to see them. This can be done through the staff member on the door in the mornings, by email to the office or by a note in the link log. Class teachers may also invite the head teacher or the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) to the meeting.  The Head teacher is also available to meet with parents if necessary. Please make an appointment with the school office.
