Admissions for children starting school in Reception

Applying for a school is very exciting and if it is your first time, it can feel a little daunting.  The following information will hopefully help you with this process.

Parents and carers of prospective pupils are welcome to visit the school prior to their child's admission.  We encourage as many parents as possible to come and see the school in action.  Open mornings are held in the autumn term where you can come and hear about our school's vision and values and enjoy a tour around Trinity.  Please ring the school office for dates.  Before submitting your application please read our policy in full.  Once you have made your decision you need to make your application online directly to Dorset County Council.

Parents and carers who wish their children to be admitted to the school, should complete the Common Application Form in line with Local Authority Co-ordinated Admission Scheme.  Please refer to the Parent and Carer Guide for Admissions to Dorset Schools for dates and further information, which can be found on line using the link at the end of this page.

Trinity CE First School cannot guarantee places for children when there are no places available as a result of late applications for the normal year of entry or any application that relates to a different year group.

Once a place has been offered to you by the Local Authority we invite you and your child to a series of events and activities to make starting school as smooth and enjoyable as possible.  

These include:

• Introductory stay and play and story sessions in the summer term prior to September
• 'All About Me' Booklet
• Meeting for parents and staff
• Home visit in the first full week of the autumn term
• Induction period, during which the children attend planned sessions in small groups
